Save a baseline and see what has slipped
Freeze the plan you agreed on. As the project moves, GenuinePlan shows the original dates behind the current ones.
How it works
- Save on demand. One click in Settings stores each task's start, finish and duration as the baseline.
- Ghost bars. Grey bars on the Gantt chart show where each task was supposed to be.
- Two extra columns. Baseline finish and variance (in days) appear once a baseline exists.
- Overwrite or clear. Re-baseline after an approved change, or remove it.
The baseline is also used by the status report, which states how far the finish date is from plan. For the idea behind it, read what a project baseline is.
Frequently asked questions
Can I keep several baselines?
GenuinePlan keeps one baseline per plan, saved when you choose. Re-saving replaces it.
What happens to tasks added after the baseline?
They have no baseline dates and are shown without a variance.

Project baseline
A baseline is a snapshot of the approved plan. Without it, you can see that dates moved but not by how much.
