Move plans in and out: Project XML, Excel and CSV
You do not have to start over. Bring an existing plan in, and take your data out whenever you like.
| Format | Import | Export |
|---|---|---|
| Microsoft Project XML (MSPDI) | Yes | Yes |
| Excel (.xlsx) | Yes | Yes |
| CSV | Yes | - |
| PDF status report | - | Yes |
| Microsoft Project .mpp | Not supported. Save as XML from Project first. | |
What carries over
- Task hierarchy and numbering, names, durations, owners and progress.
- Predecessors with their link types (FS, SS, FF, SF) and lag in days.
- Milestones and summary tasks.
Anything that cannot be carried over, for example lag given as a percentage, is reported in a warning when you import, so nothing changes silently.
How to export from Microsoft Project
In Project choose File, Save As, and pick XML Format. Upload that file to GenuinePlan. Comparing tools? See GenuinePlan as a Microsoft Project alternative.
